In his Gavel report Dave says nobody was up for the walk to Gaping Gill, but actually Sophie & I were. A trip to Main Chamber is an absolute must for any aspiring caver and it was long overdue for Sophie. Some wet conditions would hopefully make the Chamber interesting, so it seemed ideal.

I have a fairly strong dislike of Bar Pot, more down to the competence of the people you tend to meet in there than the cave itself, so it was probably 20 years since I was last there. On this occasion we met nobody and were done in a couple of hours. Needless to say, Sophie was impressed by Main Chamber but less so by the walk!

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
