As nobody seemed to be up for doing Long Kin, we tagged onto a LJ trip with a group of 4 who were staying at the school and also had the all important permit.
The plan was for an exchange beetween Monastry and Cathedral routes, with the group of 4 going in via Monastry and us going in via Cathedral. Once rigged we were soon sat in Sink Chamber waiting for the other group.
After about 25mins Roy came down our rope to say the others had sacked it, as they thought Monastry route was too wet. So all that was left was to retrace our steps as we made our way back out
Trip time 3hrs
Sue Ryall, Roy Rodgers, Andy Mason, Paul Geddes, Paul Thomas, Keith Mason

This was my first trip into lostjohns and was a little apprehensive at first as I new it had a lot of pitches, a first class trip with nice pitches with only one deviation, even managed all the ascents without any trouble. Just a pity we didn’t manage the exchange but never mind there’s always another time.

It's got a reputation as a good trip does Lost Johns but I've neber been there.

I was due to go once but it was on the Presidents meet weekend and I climbed out the GG main entrance the day before. Scared mysef silly the next morning when I couldn't get out of a top bunk at the school house and didn't go on the Sunday trip.

Lost John's .. one of the very best trips in the Dales. Each of the three main routes is superb and if you combine it with a trip to Boxhead, it's got a bit of absolutely everything. Love it!

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
