After much deliberation and tea drinking, about what to do, due to the shite weather. We finally decided to do Sell Gill Dry Route, after driving up and parking at the barn it was just a short walk to the cave.
Once rigged and at the bottom, the sight of the waterfall in flow was very impressive. As this was going to be a short trip, we decided to go back out and come back in again 4 times just to add some time to the trip.
Trip time 2hrs30
Lee Langdon, Lisa Wootton, Stu Weston, Keith Mason

I think you may these things up, 4 of you in and out of sell gill dry route 4 times in 150 minutes, so under 10 minute from top to the bottom and back. Speed caving.

but presumably they followed each other down, rather than taking it in turns for a solo return trip.

150/16 = 9.4 mins for one person sounds quick.

150/4 = 37.5 mins for 4 people to get to the bottom and back sounds reasonable.

I only managed 3.5 trips up and down and Lisa did 3 i think - if that makes the sums add up.
We would have been much quicker if we had'nt got tangled up with another group who thought there were 16 of us!!

January approaches so it's my first trip of the year, which reminds me, need to renew my membership.

We're going to Birkwith and out by coppy gill hopefully, then the YSS weekend of Black Shiver and the next days trip if I'm still able to move.

Edit: The sunday trip is Newby Moss Area, Pillar Hles/Long Kin West

 I would take offense, but as it was April that I lasy went caving, it's probably a good guess! Oh well, sometimes life deals crap hands, mysterious ways and all that.:(

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
