With a few people looking for a less adventurous trip than Grange Rigg, the Black Book trip on the meets list.
We decided to have another look at Lost Johns' Pot. Having packed the bags I thought that we ought to book it, only to discover that someone had already booked it for another club.
We changed our focus to Notts Pot and booked it before repacking the bags. Now with 5 bags for Adamson's route plus the lower streamway, we set off for Leck fell.
We marched up the hill from the parking near Notts 2 and straight to the cave.
Having done the entrance series, I somehow missed the chamber and headed down Twilight route. I thought that it was wrong after a couple of bolts & backed up into the chamber to take the correct route.
This is up a daunting climb with a shortage of bolts. I had taken twice the amount of rope shown on the topo and that only just reached!
The rest of the way down Adamson's route went without a hitch and we were soon at the point where the three routes meet before heading down the lower streamway.
At this point it was felt that we were going to be too tight on our callout if we continued, so we turned round (with 2 unused bags of rope).
We made it out with time to spare on our callout.

Time: About 3.5 hours

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
