I was beginning to suffer from caving withdrawal, so I asked Damian if I could come along on a "New Member" SRT trip he was running.
He had selected Bull Pot of the Witches, a cave which I have only done a few times and not for a number of years. Ros decided to come along too.
Sophie & Lukas (the new member) were the remainder of the team. The whole team were SRT competent, so it made for an easy trip.
The absence of the ash tree meant that we were going down "Chimney Route", a part of the cave I had not used before.
Damian rigged a handline down to the start of the cave. We then went down the chimney and emerged back in the daylight at the bottom of the shakehole.
We then went down to the bottom of the cave and had a look at the sump before going into "Long Gallery" and following that to the upstream sump and the other way until it got really grim.
When we got back to the bottom of the shakehole, Sophie & Ros headed straight our, while Damian, Lukas & I when into some more sections I had not previously explored. The rock seemed to get progressively more fractured, to the point where Lukas & I stopped to let Damian push some other loose leads.
When Damian had had enough we all headed out.

Trip time about 4 hours.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
