We had a good turn out for the trip to Alderley Edge mines.
In the morning, we went in via Engine Vein and gradually descended to the Hough Level, where we took a couple of boats along a flooded section eventually emerging from Wood mine.
In the afternoon, we had a trip down West Mine, following a convoluted route to see the best parts of the mine. This mine has some huge chambers, which must have taken a great deal of excavation.
The insect eating fungus with mind controlling powers was especially interesting,
Thanks to Olly & Chris for an excellent day's caving (?).
Team: Olly, Chris, Rich, Emma, Phil, Caiti, Arianna, Lee, Sharon, Jim, Keith, Sue, Neil, Ron, Dave & birthday boy Barry.
Time: About 6h 30m.
