New month and new cave for Phil, who is working through his list of caves to do, we were happy to assist. Off we went down Gavel pot with its magnificent fluted shafts to the sump which almost looked inviting compared to most Dales sumps. On our way out we shed our SRT kits and visited the pretties as a side trip, well worth the effort of the slightly snug bits.
Having time in hand before our call out, we rigged the traverse and went upstream in Short drop to the pitch, then heading back around had a bounce down to the Sump which wasn't a Sump, just water flowing into the cobbles.
5 hours of fantastic caving with some lovely formations thrown in, these two caves have a bit of everything.
then it was time for tea and rope washing before heading to the Helly for food.
Those out to play, Phil the Hawk, Ariana and  Stu W.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
