Bit of a shite start to the day as it had rained most of Friday night and was still raining Saturday morning, so after sitting round drinking tea and watching Top Gear till about 12oclock. We then decided as it was starting to clear up we would go and do something, so we opted for Aquamole. After the cold and windy walk up it was nice to get in the entrance and out of the elements. On the way in we met Rupert Skorupka who told us about some pretty passage and a sump, so after we had dropped the last pith we went and had a look at the other stuff on the way out.

I have to admit I've struggled to find Jingling in the past. Walked up the hill and then is it left or right?

Depends where you park, of course! It's in the field nearer Thornton than Bull Pot if that helps. From the field that Bull Pot is in walk up the wall, turn left through the gate, then go along Turbary Road for about 100m before turning right and heading for the tree. Aquamole is the obvious lid just short of Jingling.

Is there a histroy of it's discovery anywhere?

Mostly explored from the sump upwards, and then an entrance was dug down from the surface to connect with the highest point reached by the divers. Think it was all in an article in Descent after the entrance was dug (2000??)

You can also see the old climbing bolts going up the wall on the last pitch, if you traverse over it.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
