We did start with 8 of on a very cold morning for our planned trip down Rift, must say the drive up Turbary Road was a lot better this time, now they've filled the ruts in to some degree :)
After the entrance crawl and squeeze before the second pitch we had lost 3 of our party, so the rest of us carried on down to the bottom. At this point we lost another one, so that just left the 4 of us :(
From the bottom we made our way through to the connection with Large Pot, as the duck only had minimal air space we decided to leave it for another day
On the way out we did check out several side passages, once back in the Main Chamber we did head off towards the Temple of Doom for a short while before turning around and making our way out.
Trip time 5hrs15
Paul Geddes, Paul Horner, Alex Wallman, Susan Blackburn, Peter James, Simon, Richard, Keith Mason

thoroughly enjoyed this trip :) .
It was a good chance for me to put into practice all that I have learnt since the TC w/end November. Although when at the bottom of the last pitch I did worry a little at the prospect of the long prussik back up :S , but it wasn't as bad as I thought as I steadily ascended.
Getting wedged in the squeeze for 5 mins or so (with my 34" waist lol) was fun, thanks to PJ and KM for their patience and support as I wormed though.

All in all a great day and thanks to all for their tips , guidence and support as always ;) .

Oh not forgetting Old El Passo night , excellent , I will check forum closer to the next theme night which I think is Italian. And will contribute to the feast :P .

Just had a look at Pauls' Photos, I think the council dont need to rename Turbary road Turbary Rift any more :woohoo:

Looks a little too tight for my figure too

Removing my SRT kit helped with the squeeze sections. Must do again, I didn't like the look of the duck, lying on your back with mouth kissing the celling for air, what happens when you lie in the bath - the water rises... :S

Very pretty cave, we need some professional camera people next time.

Thank you Keith (lighthouse) Mason for lighting the way back to the car, without your powerfull light I would have got lost in the mist

Is the squeeze the one at waist height on the way in but above head height on the way back? I hate that bit

I never liked that cave after my now retired chest jammer decided to pop off the rope near the top of the 40 as I swung accross on the top rope. Dangling from nothing but your hand jammer thinking will that go next is not a pleasant experiance! I have been back since, but I always get a little nervous at that pitch. Suffice to say I changed my methodoly of passing those long swing rebelays after that.

For those who felt the squeeze was bad, it was even I struggled a bit going back up when I last did it. Hint: Take your SRT kit off! Its more akward than tight being at the top of a climb.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
