Seven people on a frosty Sunday morning decided to do a pull through, so after a short wet crawl to the first pitch the leaders (Paul and Brian) thought getting soaked was not a great idea. So we backed out.

Valley Entrance had the CRO already there, they must have known. ;) They were testing mole phones for various parties. Great trip on any day, excellent for beginners and practicing small SRT stuff. Made it to the bottom of the last pitch only to find the CRO team playing with their phones. As there was no pizza ordered – we headed out.

Brian and myself headed out first. Susan and Paul H behind, followed by Paul G, Michelle G, Alex W. The look on our faces when Alex and their party turned up before Susan and Paul H must have been a picture. Who says you can’t get lost coming out of Valley. Brian found Susan and Paul H so CRO weren’t needed even though they were in attendance. :P

We all had a laugh about it, but never assume your party know there way…

Brian, Paul G, Michelle G, Paul H, Alex and Susan, Me...

Time taken - god knows.....

Forgot to mention, whilst talking to the CRO guys we discussed the high level traverse. They said its a trip worth doing... especially in bad weather  but also mentioned the flood water that chased them to the boulders at the pitch head.

Did it a few years back with (IIRC) Stu W and Ian W. It was pretty hard work to rig - an awful lot of arm strength needed by the 50th knot!

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
