Upper Flood - Saturday 5th October was created by phawcroft
The day started well with Beans suggestion of breakfast at Priddy Good,. There was a good choice of small, medium or large full English, some of us overestimated our appetite!
We then made our way to the MCG hut, where some serious hut maintenance was going on. We met Dan and Jason our leaders for the trip. After gearing up we made our way to the entrance and would hopefully be in Neverland in a couple of hours. As we progressed through the canals, squeezes and boulder choke we found that the water levels were much higher than normal, it was energy sapping and we all started to feel the cold.
At south passage we got to the old entrance of Neverland and had a tantalising glimpse at the pure white formations, but at the thought of taking oversuits and wellies off, we made a group decision to turn back before we got far too cold.
It’s an incredible well decorated cave and going into Neverland is a great reason to return.
A nice hot shower back at the Wessex hut, food and beers at the Hunters made for a great visit to the Mendips..
Trip time - 4.5 Hours
Present - Adele, Lee, Phil . Dan and Jason ( MCG )
