As there was 5 of us for caving, we decided on doing a Large/Rift exchange which suddenly became a Large to Rift as only 1 person knew the way in either direction and the bypass to the Capricious Duck.......Me :smug:
Again using the power of 4x4 we saved a little leg work, and after the very cold change again we soon found ourselves at the entrance to Large Pot. Once the first pitch had been dropped it was soon on to the awkward constriction of the second pitch head, must say I wasn't feeling the love at this point but having done it several times before and being at the front there was only one way....Down.
After several attempts at it Nigel decided to call it a day, so he and Stu went back out and went in Rift Pot, which left Lisa Phil and myself to plod on towards the big pitch, Colossus. Fairly steady going with a few thrutchy bits along the way, as we approached the head of the pitch Lisa offered to rig it :). Once down Colossus we soon picked the route up towards the bypass and although a little bit more energetic than the Capricious Duck it meant we didn't get a total soaking. As we popped out the bypass we were now in Rift Pot and after several minutes we met up with Stu and Nigel, at this point we decided on a little detour to Temple of Doom before we all exited via Rift Pot leaving Large rigged for another day.
Trip time 6hrs

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
