HERON POT PARTY It all started with a proposed trip down Heron pot and ended with altering the face of the map so to speak.

As another party were already in Heron it was decided to have a dig session in the area, Various shakeholes· were dug, poked, etc. and two were dug out but will need further work to see if they go.

Now according to the map a stream sinks about l500ft from Heron entrance but after a quick poke in the stream bed with a crowbar ••••••< it now sinks 200ft. from Heron and the party underground beat a hasty retreat because of the sudden rise of the wet stuff.

Since the club trip a tiger has been at work and the original sink has been dug out, a bedding cave passage entered with no obvious signs of entry before. After 60ft a static sump was encountered and not wishing to repeat the Rowter sump saga this was baled out, the sump being only 4ft in length but tight... After a further 60ft the passage enlarged to the head of a 40ft. (approx.) pitch. This has yet to be climbed, as no tackle was to hand on the first day of exporation.

A further visit with tackle has been made but the sump had refilled, one presumes with the recent heavy rain and as the weather was unsettled, discretion prevails and as only the one person has so far been on those trips (caving alone!!!),. but a party of three will make an assault soon in an effort to extend this obvious YSS first.

P.S The entrance has been disguised to prevent pirates.
